World Press Photo 2015 at Drik Gallery
The World Press Photo 2015 was launched on December 27 at Drik Gallery, Dhaka. This traveling exhibition, unique in its kind, is the result of a worldwide annual contest on press photography. The exhibition was officially opened by the Guest of Honour H.E. Leoni Margaretha Cuelenaere, the Ambassador of the Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka. Eminent photographer Nasir Ali Mamun and Project Manager Exhibitions from World Press Photo Anaïs Conijn were present as Special Guests. Shahidul Alam, Managing Director, Drik delivered a welcome note at the opening ceremony.

The World Press Photo competition is the world’s leading contest for professional press photographers, photojournalists, and documentary photographers, setting the standard for the profession. This year’s competition drew entries from 5,692 photographers from 131 countries. A total of 97,912 images were entered in the contest.
This year World Press Photo 15 saw a jury from Bangladesh (Munem Wasif) and a winner (Sarker Protick, 2nd prize stories, Daily Life).
The exhibition will be open for all till 8 January 2016 every day from 3 to 8pm.
