Drik Picture Library has been chosen as the regional partner by the World Press Photo to co-organise contests in Asia. You will also be excited to know that Pathshala South Asian Media Institute will serve the educational programme for the World Press Photo. The official announcement was made today at DrikPath Bhobon during a press conference. Bangladeshi winners of previous World Press Photo Contests and jury members were also present at the event.
Cornelis Stouten (First Secretary, Political Affairs and Human Rights of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Bangladesh) started with a welcome note and wished for the success of the programme. Shahidul Alam (the founder of Pathshala, Drik, and ex-jury board chair for the World Press Photo) spoke at the conference. ASM Rezaur Rahman (Drik’s Curator and General Manager) explained the modality of the partnership. Khandaker Tanvir Murad (Head of Photography Department) spoke on the future possibilities of the educational chapter which would be implemented under this programme. Lastly, Pathshala tutor Tanzim Wahab, Chair of the Regional Jury for Asia region, World Press Photo 2022 shared his experience of this year’s winner selection process with the audience.
